Im 9. Jh. werden zahlreiche Werke ins Arabische übersetzt, darunter griechische Philosophen. Der Gelehrte al-Kindī treibt solche Übersetzungen nicht nur voran, sondern versucht die griechischen Quellen u.a. für die islamische Theologie fruchtbar zu machen.
Al-Kindīs Leben, Werk und Erbe beleuchtet für uns Prof. Dr. Peter Adamson, der den Lehrstuhl für spätantike und arabische Philosophie an der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München leitet (Universitätswebseite).
